
Javier Cruz Jiménez, former municipal president of San Pedro Mixtepec on the coast of Oaxaca, was murdered this afternoon in his business in the Agua Marina subdivision of the municipal area. According to authorities, he was shot to death by individuals who entered his store and fired at him. Currently, those who committed the crime remain unknown and no one has been arrested.
The Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office has deployed a team of investigative specialists to the scene to strengthen the investigations that will help clarify the case. Javier Cruz Jiménez, 52 years old, had held various public positions. From 2021 until December 2024, he served as the municipal president of San Pedro Mixtepec for the Morena party, and sought re-election for the new term through the PT, though he was not elected. Between 2016 and 2018, he was president of the communal property committee of San Pedro Mixtepec.
